THOUGHTS
Hello all,
Firstly, I want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who made the trip to Goole last weekend. Your backing on the road never goes unnoticed.
Unfortunately, we didn't get the result we had hoped for. We didn't play to our full potential, and it cost us against a very good Goole side who are rightfully pushing at the top of the table after a strong start to the season.
We had a really productive session on Tuesday night, going through the key areas where we fell short on Saturday and putting the work in to set things right.
The lads are determined to bounce back this Saturday, and with your continued support from the stands, we're confident we can get back on track.
Up the city!

Following last Saturdays defeat against Goole, it’s imperative that we bounce back with 3 points on Saturday. The Goole game was a good even game and I thought we looked the only side to win it in the 2nd half, until they scored the 2nd, which was a great strike.
Obviously we conceded a 3rd at the end after going for it to grab a draw. But Goole are a good side and they’ll be up there come the business end of the season.
Onto Saturdays game, we have a couple of lads returning from suspensions, and the squad is looking fit and strong, so we need to get back on our winning streak and try and get a run together to climb the table again.
Once again, thanks for the great support, home and away, it’s very much valued.
Cheers

Aidan will be staying at Doncaster City for the 2026/27 season. The tough-tackling left-back and centre-half has been solid in defence, as well as chipping in with some great crosses from out wide as his form has continued to improve throughout the campaign, becoming a key member of our first-team squad. We look forward to seeing more from him in the upcoming season.

England Schoolboys Under-18s goalkeeper. The young shot-stopper has grown massively in confidence and physicality over the season, making some huge saves along the way as he has gained the trust of his team-mates. He has taken his chance with both hands, and we are very positive he can add more impressive performances next season.

We're delighted to announce that we have retained Ben Dyer for the upcoming campaign, in what will be his third season with Doncaster City, as he closes in on 50 appearances for the club in all competitions. The talented teenager joined us during our 2024-25 season in the Central Midlands Premier Division North, where he helped us win the league and played 14 games scoring 9 goals. A vital part of our young core last season, Ben carried the team at times and ended the campaign as our top scorer in the NCEL First Division, bagging 10 goals, and also notably adding a hat-trick in the league cup against Nostell where he captained the side. We can't wait to see how Ben gets on next season with a year of Step 6 football under his belt, and we thank him massively for his non-stop work rate, quality, desire and commitment shown to the club.

Billy Grimshaw will be retained by the club for next season. Billy played 19 times last season, making 7 starts and chipping in with 4 goals, as he continued to develop throughout the campaign.

We're delighted to announce Calum Ward as the latest player to commit to the club for the 2026/27 season. Danny South has committed to Doncaster City for the upcoming season. Southy brings a vast amount of non-league experience to City, notably being a big part in leading Hallam's promotion to Step 4 before moving back to former club Belper Town to help them reach the play-off final. The centre-back and centre-forward will add plenty of physicality and immense aerial prowess in both boxes, as well as great quality from playing higher up in non-league. This move is a sign of our intentions this season and we can't wait to see what Danny can bring to the side, and how his experience can impact some of the younger talent at the club.

The new signing joins us from Club Thorne Colliery. Dom is a strong and athletic player with a high level of technical quality. His deliveries from set pieces are a standout quality, while his aerial ability provides an additional threat in both defensive and attacking situations. Dom is highly versatile and can perform effectively at full-back, on the left side of midfield, in central midfield or as a winger.

Grant is a solid full-back who can also play at centre-back. He is very vocal and leads by example. Another player with a great mindset and a real desire to compete.

He will also compete for the number-one spot in our U23s team and is a South Yorkshire U18’s schoolboy representative. An athletic goalkeeper with a positive attitude, Harry is a great young player with a bright future ahead.

During pre-season he has shown some positive displays, being hard to get past and very comfortable on the ball. We look forward to what he can do in the season ahead for us.

The 18-year-old centre-half brings an impressive pedigree to the squad, having started his youth career with Sheffield Wednesday before later joining Sheffield United at a young age. The talented youngster, who we believe has a very bright future, spent last season with Staveley and is already well known to manager John, who previously coached him with the South Yorkshire Schoolboys.
